It seems to be like the season of puzzles has arrived at the App Store. Lot of interesting puzzle games have been launched in a few weeks time. Let me take one for the review today.
Protect the Monkeys is an easy to play puzzle that belongs to the Matching Items genre. It comes with hand-drawn graphics, good sound effects and music. The objective of this game is to let the monkeys to have their party without being disturbed by the the uninvited foes.
A player has to slide a row or a column to make three or more items of the same kind are adjacent to each other. Those items will get disappeared and players will earn points for it. There are also some exploding bombs among them. The player has to get rid of them to save his monkeys.
Protect the Monkeys will help the player with hints. However, one can’t afford to use them often as there are bombs waiting to explode. The player can save his progress and continue to play the game whenever he wants. The Resume facility works fine without any crashes. There is no separate section for instructions. The app will offer some guidance before the start of a new game. I tried it and successfully crossed three levels without much effort as I have played many games of this kind in the past.
Protect the Monkeys has Game Center support for Online Leaderboards and Achievements. With some easy to understand controls, this app can attract the people who love the games of this genre. But the developers can add some more impressive features to make it stand alone in its category. It was launched only a few days back and looks good for a first version. This app is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
