Steel Beam iPhone App Review

Steel Beam an easy to use calculator app to measure, calculate the stress in bending and the amount of deflection during lifting a weight. The app is meant especially for the construction engineers to easily calculate whether the output of the design can bare the weight that needs to be lifted. I would say a very handy tool for the construction engineers to plan and design accordingly.

How it works?

The app has a very simple interface and you probably don’t have to confuse yourself. The first page of the app ask the span length in feet, then the next step request for a type of steel, based upon the minimum yield stress. The third step is about selecting the shape of the beam that you would like to use, followed by shapes, Type of load, Load amount and finally the results of the calculation.

The app functions equally enough to what a computer performs to calculate the measurements to get a desired output. But carrying a computer all the time doesn’t seem to be possible for everyone and at those case, Steel Beam is the best companion to efficiently analyze the output of the calculations. The calculation page of the app is informative enough to go ahead and practically execute it.

If you still confused with the functions of the app, let me explain you with an example. Suppose you want to lift a weight, you need to be sure whether the beam is capable enough to lift the source. So during these situations instead of going with you rough mind calculations, its better to go with the values of Steel Beam. However, don’t take the Steel Beam apps value as the final decision, unless it gets approved by a licensed design professional.

Let me tell you I am not a construction engineer, so what I look forward in the app, might vary when its looked up by a civil engineer. Steel Beam upto my knowledge looks to be more helpful to easily calculate and execute safely.

I'm not sure the reviewer quite got the sense of the app, not working in construction. As the developer, I encourage you to check out http://www.constructionknowledge.net/Phoneapps.ph... to really understand how the app works. Thanks.
